Brisbane West
Eco Fest
Brisbane West Eco Fest is a community event organised by representatives of ecofriendly community groups from western Brisbane suburbs, under the auspices of The Gap Sustainability Initiative, in collaboration with Save our Waterways Now, Boomerang Bags The Gap and Surrounds, and Repair Café The Gap.
The Brisbane West Eco Fest showcases local solutions to key environmental issues, sustainable solutions that individuals/ families can adopt to help improve their own wellbeing as well as the health of their local environments and biodiversity. A healthy environment is known to be important for physical and mental wellbeing of individuals and communities.
At this year’s event on Sunday 16 August 2026, we expect an even greater diversity of stalls. Our morning session will feature four local heroes who will share their passion, explain why they undertake sustainable action, what motivates them, and how people can get involved. Gecko’s Wildlife, Facepainting Fairies and RecycleMan will provide entertainment. In addition to last year’s program we will also provide practical workshops, such as how to compost, and how to repair clothes so they can be used longer.
Discover. Connect. Take Action.
Brisbane West Eco Fest is where community passion meets practical action. Created by local eco champions from across the western suburbs — and proudly supported by The Gap Sustainability Initiative, Save Our Waterways Now, Boomerang Bags The Gap and Surrounds, and Repair Café The Gap — this festival brings together people who care about living well and caring for the planet.
At Eco Fest, you’ll find real, local solutions to the environmental challenges we face every day. Whether you’re a family wanting to live more sustainably, a nature lover looking to protect local wildlife, or simply curious about what’s possible, you’ll discover ideas you can use right away to improve your wellbeing and the health of your community. Because when our environment thrives, we do too.
A Growing Movment — And You’re Invited
Our very first Eco Fest in 2025 was a huge success, with more than 30 stallholders sharing everything from solar innovations and biodiversity projects to tool libraries, plastic free surfboards, sustainable burials, and more. With keynote speakers like Jerry Coleby Williams and Jane Milburn, the day was packed with inspiration and practical know how.
In 2026, we’re taking things even further.
