Many thanks to Philip Willington who kindly provided us with an updated figure of the rainfall in the Gap. The below graph shows the amazing amount of rain that The Gap received in 2022, especially compared to the average annual rainfall of 1,133 mm during other years. Of course this rainfall led to severe flooding in Enoggera creek and other creeks damaging houses and property (which is unusual in The Gap), but also the riparian vegetation, sweeping away the hard work done by habitat volunteers over many years. Luckily many volunteers are even more determined now to clean up the creek beds and bring the vegetation back as evidenced by their turnout in force to recent planting events.
