Thank you to Professor Leonie Barner from QUT’s Centre for a Waste-free World for explaining the complex world of waste reduction to us. From big issues such as how much waste is produced in the first instance to small ones, such as the plastic stickers on each fruit item, Professor Barner covered a lot of ground. It was interesting that while packaging creates a lot of waste and should be avoided, food production is the greater problem. We have now summarised some resources for waste reduction on our website that can help those interested to make a start.
Who knew that waste reduction is so complex
